Since the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor, Indian counterintelligence agencies have been on high alert. Over the past month, at least 15 individuals across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab have been detained or arrested. 

An engineer in Mumbai sketching warship blueprints after being honey-trapped on Facebook, a travel vlogger in Haryana escorted by armed men through Lahore’s markets, a Rajasthan government employee with seven unexplained trips to Pakistan, and a SIM card supplier in Deeg funnelling information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) handlers – each arrest, unconnected yet similar, reveals a wide network of people engaged in passing sensitive information to Pakistan.

“What is important is that, not the jet being down, but why they were being down,” Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan told Bloomberg TV.

India’s military confirmed for the first time that it lost an unspecified number of fighter jets in clashes with Pakistan in May, while saying the four-day conflict never came close to the point of nuclear war.

He called Pakistan’s claims that it shot down six Indian warplanes “absolutely incorrect,” though declined to specify how many jets India lost.

“Why they were down, what mistakes were made – that are important,” General Chauhan said when asked about the fighter jets. “Numbers are not important,” he added.

“The good part is that we are able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and flew all our jets again, targeting at long range,” General Chauhan said.

The comments are the most direct yet from an Indian government or military official on the fate of the country’s fighter jets during the conflict with Pakistan that erupted on May 7.

Earlier this month, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said his country shot down six Indian fighter jets, an assertion that hasn’t been independently verified. India’s government had earlier refrained from commenting on whether it lost aircraft in the fighting.

KL Rahul has sent out a message to the BCCI, telling the board of his intention to play the second unofficial Test between India A and England Lions.

However, instead of sulking on the failed pursuit of the top 4, Rahul has reportedly decided to join international duty by making himself available for the India A tour of England. Rahul has reportedly told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he wants to play for India A against England Lions in the second unofficial Test.

The series gets underway with the first match starting on May 30 in Canterbury. While Rahul can’t make the squad in time for that match, he is said to be keen on a place in the team for the second match. The intention has also been informed to the BCCI and the selection committee chief, Ajit Agarkar.

“He will be flying on Monday and will be playing a second unofficial test with the India A side. As he is part of the senior men’s team, which will be playing five Test matches in the series, these matches will give him game time and match practice,” the Indian Express quoted a source as saying.

The second unofficial Test between England Lions and India A begins on June 06. The senior Indian team will then be involved in an intra-squad match in Beckenham on June 13. The first Test of the 5-match series starts in Leeds on June 20.

In a recent interview to Sky Sports, Rahul had also spoken of his love for the longest format of the game.

“I love red ball cricket. I mean you can’t take that away from me or anyone who’s part of that Indian team. Everyone that I’ve spoken to on that Indian team, we’re all on the same page as to Test cricket is number one for us. We love playing Test cricket and that hasn’t changed for me,” Rahul had said.

“I grew up watching Test cricket. I grew up watching you guys play for England. I used to wake up at five in the morning and watch Test cricket in Australia with my father. He loved watching cricket as well,” he added.

“On 30 May 2025, COAS General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, felicitated Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari of BSF Jammu with the Commendation Disc for her exceptional courage and operational proficiency during Operation Sindoor,” BSF Jammu said on X.
